Bio

Calvin began working for the UC Davis Wildlife Health Center Carnivores Program in 2021 and is currently the lead biologist for the Gabilan and Pacheco Mountain Lion Projects. Calvin completed his master's degree researching bison on Catalina Island, where he also assisted in the recovery of the Catalina Island Fox, mule deer management, and various other wildlife monitoring and management programs for 13 years.

Growing up on a ranch in Alberta, Canada, Calvin has always enjoyed the outdoors and working with animals. Early in his career, Calvin worked as a wildland firefighter, waterfowl biologist, fisheries biologist, bobcat technician, black bear technician, and murrelet field biologist. He has also owned multiple companies, including his current consulting business, Wildlife Detections LLC.
