Bio

Dr. Ralph Vanstreels is a wildlife veterinarian. His work focuses on the ecology and pathology of wildlife diseases and their implications for conservation, with an emphasis on penguins and other seabirds. He has led and contributed to research and conservation projects across the Southern Hemisphere, especially in Argentina, Brazil and South Africa. Vanstreels’ current research projects expand over a variety of topics under the One Health approach, including the discovery of novel pathogens and parasites, the investigation of wildlife disease outbreaks and mass mortality events, and the use of physiology as a tool to improve our understanding of the ecology and population dynamics of wild animal populations.
